Benefits of deaf awareness training

After the training, your employees will:

  • offer improved customer service to one in six of your customers
  • understand the barriers faced by people with hearing loss
  • feel confident about communicating with deaf people and those with hearing loss
  • work more effectively with colleagues who are deaf or have hearing loss.

Research shows that more than 70% of people who use hearing aids would choose a company with staff who are deaf aware over a competitor whose staff are not.

Flexible training for your business

During the COVID-19 pandemic we’re unable to provide face-to-face training so we’ve developed three deaf awareness courses that are available remotely:

1) Get Deaf Aware e-learning

An online self-learning course that offers an introduction to deaf awareness in the workplace, with scenario-based training and easy-to-follow information. It takes just 45 minutes to complete and is delivered in partnership with Signature, the leading awarding body for deaf communications qualifications in the UK.

2) Standard deaf awareness training

This remote deaf awareness training course is presented by one of our experienced deaf trainers. The 90-minute session covers statistics, levels and causes of hearing loss, terminology, lipreading, and communication hints and tips. Time permitting, some basic British Sign Language (BSL) is also included.

3) Tailored deaf awareness training

Using our standard deaf awareness training course as a base, we can create a programme with tailored content that’s specific to your business needs.
