British Sign Language (BSL) training

Five reasons to offer sign language courses to your staff

For over 20 years we’ve been delivering high-quality sign language courses across the UK. If your business has employees, customers or clients who use British Sign Language (BSL), we can help you communicate with them more easily.

Here are five reasons to offer our BSL training courses to your staff:

1. Improve access to your products and services for BSL users

Sign language training will make your staff more confident when communicating with Deaf people and demonstrate your commitment to excellent customer service.

2. Break down any communication barriers in the workplace between hearing and Deaf colleagues

At the same time, offering sign language courses will help your organisation meet its legal duties under the Equality Act 2010 (Disability Discrimination Act in Northern Ireland).

3. Choose from flexible training options based on your specific requirements

If customer-facing staff have limited interaction with BSL users, our Start to Sign course offers an introduction to basic BSL signs (half-day or full-day courses available). If you have Deaf employees, or your staff have regular contact with Deaf clients and customers, our BSL at Work course can be tailored to include any jargon, abbreviations and terminology commonly used by your business (course lasts for 18 hours and can be delivered in three full-day sessions or six half-day sessions).

4. Save time and money

We can provide BSL training at a time and place to suit you. Please note that all BSL courses are temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 situation but we hope to have them available again soon (circa end Nov 2020).

5. Offer an experiential learning experience to your staff

Our Start to Sign course was described as a “very interactive and fun way to learn” by Paula on Trustpilot.
