Local authorities in Northern Ireland order £4m of assistive products

Action on Hearing Loss has won a major contract worth £4m to supply assistive products to all local authorities in Northern Ireland over a four-year period. We were chosen ahead of other suppliers, with the excellent community work we do in Northern Ireland being a major factor. The charity delivers a wide range of support services across Northern Ireland to help people with deafness, tinnitus and hearing loss.

The following organisations will be supplying assistive products to their customers and staff in a large number of health and social care settings:

  • Northern Health and Social Care Trust
  • Southern Health and Social Care Trust
  • Western Health and Social Care Trust
  • South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust
  • Business Services Organisation
  • Regional Health and Social Care Board.

Local authorities and many other organisations purchase assistive products to help their customers stay safe and aware at home – from flashing doorbells and vibrating alarm clocks to deaf-friendly smoke detectors. With hearing loss affecting around 12 in every 100 employees, businesses across the UK are using assistive products to break down barriers at work. Whether it’s following discussions at meetings, taking part in conference calls or knowing when there’s a fire drill, we’ve an extensive range of products for every situation.
