Access to Work is a government grant that provides practical and financial support to people who have a disability, or physical or mental health condition, so they start or stay in work.

If staff already have an Access to Work grant, this support remains in place and the government is providing some easements for scheme users. Changes to the scheme have reduced the need for line managers to sign forms, which should mean that employees have greater flexibility in the support they’re offered. The scheme is open to new claimants, so staff whose hearing loss is negatively affected by changes to their working environment should be able to make a claim.
Are you in Northern Ireland?
The Access to Work scheme is administered locally in Northern Ireland and follows a different set of rules. While existing recipients of Access to Work grants will continue to receive payments, the scheme is temporarily suspended for new customers.
